Chiropractic Care

If neck stiffness, lower back pain, sciatica, or headaches are slowing you down, you don’t have to just accept it. At Graceland Chiropractic, we focus on finding the actual cause of your symptoms instead of covering them up with medications.

We care for everyone–weekend warriors, desk workers, grandparents, kids, and athletes. Dr. Thomas Corbin spent 23 seasons as the official chiropractor for the Columbus Crew, and that experience with professional athletes translates directly to how we help everyday people stay active and pain-free.

How Chiropractic Works

When a spinal bone shifts slightly out of position, it can irritate nearby joints, discs, and nerve roots. Chiropractors call this a subluxation. The result? Stiffness, pain, numbness, tingling, headaches, and a whole list of other symptoms.

The goal of an adjustment is to gently move that joint back toward proper alignment so your nervous system can function the way it’s supposed to. Your nervous system controls everything–digestion, immune function, sleep, healing, movement–so when it’s interfered with, your whole body feels it.

We use hands-on exams and on-site digital X-rays to see what’s going on and explain a realistic plan. Some issues respond quickly. Others take time, especially if there’s been years of wear and tear. We’ll tell you what we honestly think it’s going to take.

Common Issues We Treat

People come to us for all kinds of reasons, but here are the most common:

  • Neck, mid-back, and lower back pain
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Sciatica and leg pain
  • Shoulder, arm, and wrist problems
  • Numbness, tingling, or burning sensations
  • Disc herniation or protrusion
  • Carpal tunnel and repetitive strain injuries
  • Plantar fasciitis and foot pain
  • Hiatal hernia-related discomfort

We also adjust extremities–shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, ankles, and feet. A lot of chiropractors don’t do that, but we do, because those joints matter just as much as your spine.

Our Techniques

We don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. How we adjust a newborn is completely different from how we adjust a 40-year-old construction worker or an 80-year-old with arthritis. We match the technique to your body, age, and comfort level.

Here’s how we do it:

  • Diversified Technique: Classic hands-on adjustments for the spine and extremities. This is what most people think of when they picture chiropractic care.
  • Thompson (Drop Table) Technique: Uses a specialized table with sections that drop slightly during the adjustment, allowing for a gentler approach.
  • Activator: A small handheld tool that delivers a low-force adjustment. Great for infants, sensitive areas, or anyone who prefers a lighter touch.
  • Flexion Distraction: A gentle, non-thrusting technique often used for disc issues and lower back pain.
  • Extremity Adjusting: We adjust shoulders, wrists, knees, ankles–basically anything that moves.
If you’re nervous about a certain technique or you’ve had a bad experience in the past, just tell us. We’ll work with you to find an approach that feels right.

Frequently Asked Questions

What About Safety?

Chiropractic is safe when it’s done by someone who knows what they’re doing. We tailor every adjustment to your body. If you have osteoporosis, severe arthritis, or other conditions that require extra care, we adjust our approach accordingly.

It’s also normal to feel a little sore after your first adjustment-kind of like how you feel after a workout. That usually fades within a day or two. Drink plenty of water, move around gently, and let your body adjust.

How Often Will I Need to Come In?

It depends on what’s going on and how your body responds. If you tweaked your back last week and it’s a simple muscle strain, you might only need a few visits. If you’ve had chronic pain for 10 years and your X-rays show significant degeneration, it’s going to take longer.

We’ll recommend a plan that makes sense for your schedule and your goals, and we’ll adjust it as you improve. Our focus is on getting you better, teaching you how to maintain it, and not keeping you dependent on us forever.

Real Results

We’ve had patients who couldn’t walk without severe pain who are now running half marathons. We’ve had women who were told they couldn’t get pregnant suddenly conceive after a few months of care. We’ve caught serious conditions on X-rays that other doctors missed.

This isn’t magic. It’s just what happens when your nervous system is allowed to function properly!
